Cabinet Maker

We're growing, and looking for a team player who can focus the woodworking and fabrication aspects of our workflow. This includes detail design, fabrication, and significant out-of-the-box problem-solving.

Role Description

We're thinking that you're likely a cabinet maker with a desire to be more creative.
You know your way around the wood shop and its tools. You have a strong understanding of different fabrication methods, and are always looking to find creative solutions to solve problems.

Could you build a cabinet with display shelving?
Could you figure out how to build a two level play fort for children?

 

Role-Specific Requirements

These are considered minimum requirements for this role:

  • Strong working knowledge of a wood shop and all of its tools and machinery.

  • Background in cabinet making or carpentry.

  • Working knowledge of a variety of finishing techniques.

  • Working knowledge of a variety of fasteners and hardware.

  • Ability to develop and use shop drawings.

  • Ability to lead junior level team members.

  • On site installation experience.

  • Shop skills

    • Basic mechanical aptitude

    • Basic print-reading & layout ability

    • General Use of Hand & Power Tools

    • Basic understanding of materials and methods. Ability to learn.

    • Ability to lift ~75lb

    • Ability to work on ladders/scaffolding, and/or unconventional positions as required by exhibit work.

  • Dependability

    • Able to work ~40 hour work week, with flexibility for occasional overtime as needed

  • Valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation

Bonus Points

  • Computer modeling skills: We do most of our 3D modeling in Fusion 360.

  • CNC background: We use our (2) CNC routers every day

  • Metalworking and/or welding skills

  • Mold making & casting skills

  • Painting/airbrush experience

We've learned how to better utilize remote technologies to collaborate and work with our clients, but primarily we're an in-person fab shop.
